We are looking for a dedicated and technically skilled Application Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will manage and support transactional databases, ensuring their optimal performance, stability, and security.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Montreal is CAD $80k – CAD $85k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain transactional databases such as Sybase and IBM DB2.
- Monitor database performance,



troubleshoot issues, and optimize SQL queries for efficiency.
- Work with complex SQL queries and ensure data integrity and security.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts in Python.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to support database-related activities.
- Utilize schedulers such as Cron or Autosys to automate workflows.
- Use version control systems like GIT for managing change and configuration.
- Ensure database backups, recovery, and security protocols are correctly implemented.
- Document procedures, issues, and resolution steps for future reference.
- Support office working setting in Montreal.

Requirements:

- Strong understanding of transactional databases (Sybase, DB2).
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Intermediate knowledge of Python scripting.
- Comfortable working on Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Basic understanding of scheduling tools such as Cron or Autosys.
- Familiarity with GIT version control system

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in database administration or support.
- Certifications related to database management or scripting are a plus.
