Vancouver

Fireweed Metals is an exploration company focused on unlocking value in a new critical metals district located in Northern Canada. Fireweed is 100% owner of the Macpass District, a large and highly prospective 985 km2 land package. The Macpass District includes the Macpass zinc-lead-silver project and the Mactung tungsten project. A Lundin Group company, Fireweed is strongly positioned to create meaningful value.

Position Overview:

Fireweed Metals is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Permitting Specialist to support the advancement of licensing and regulatory approvals for our projects in Yukon.

This role provides dedicated, day‑to‑day internal leadership for environmental permitting across project phases and plays a central role in integrating environmental studies, mine design, and regulatory strategy. Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Mine Licensing, the ideal candidate will help ensure Fireweed delivers high‑quality, timely, and defensible licensing applications.

We are looking for someone with a robust owner’s mentality, solid technical depth, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with external regulators and Indigenous partners.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

- Lead the technical review and integration of environmental baseline studies, environmental design inputs, impact assessments, and mitigation measures.
- Provide day‑to‑day internal leadership for environmental permitting activities, ensuring alignment between technical studies, engineering, mine planning, and licensing requirements.
- Manage multidisciplinary external consultants, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and cost control across environmental and permitting work programs.
- Develop, maintain, and track permitting schedules, critical paths, and risk registers; identify emerging issues and propose mitigation strategies.

- Contribute directly to regulatory and licensing applications, including drafting, reviewing, and coordinating inputs for environmental and mine licensing submissions.
- Support engagement with Indigenous governments, regulators, and communities on technical environmental and permitting matters, including participation in meetings and presentations.
- Prepare clear, defensible technical reports, briefing materials, and presentations for internal decision‑making and external review.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams (engineering, geology, community relations, sustainability) to ensure environmental and permitting considerations are incorporated into project design and execution.
- Support regulatory readiness by tracking commitments, conditions, and information requests, and coordinating timely responses.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Eng., or equivalent) is an asset.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in environmental permitting, environmental assessment, or consulting, preferably within the mining sector.
- Experience working with northern Canadian regulatory frameworks, particularly in Yukon, is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multidisciplinary technical studies and external consultant teams.
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and cross‑functional coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience working in, and willingness to travel to, remote and field‑based project locations.

We appreciate your interest in Fireweed Metals and look forward to reviewing your application. Only selected candidates will be contacted for further steps in the hiring process.

Thank you for considering a career at Fireweed Metals!
