Overview
As the firmware designer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the low-level software required to boot, control and interact with the processor complex of products. You will develop tools and interfaces to support integration, test, and verification in collaboration with a wider development team. You will be exposed to a range of electronic, optical and RF technologies in a world-class R&D; lab environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement firmware control loops.
- Design and implement the boot code and security code to bring up embedded processor cores.
- Participate in product evolution by providing innovative solutions.
- Support other team members with their activities.
- Provide test and calibration tools.
- Provide tools to aid debugging and verification of the product.
- Participate in product integration.
- Verify firmware robustness and performance across various environments.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in the industry.
- An Electrical or Computer Engineering degree.
- Experience with real-time software development on bare-metal or embedded operating systems.
- Experience in C programming.
- Experience with programming in MATLAB or Python for simulation, test automation, and data analysis.
Assets (Preferred)
- Exposure to DSP algorithms.
- Exposure to security processors and software.
- Exposure to the ARM instruction set architecture.
- Knowledge of high-speed electro-optics components (lasers, modulators, amplifiers, photo detectors).
- Knowledge of control loop design and implementation.
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and Java.
- Hardware exposure and lab workplace experience.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
- Enjoys challenging problems.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual pay range for this position is $109,000 - $174,000 CAD. Pay ranges reflect knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations. This posting pertains to the primary location listed.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus; Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
