Position Summary:
Primaris REIT is currently hiring a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialist, Information & Operation Technology to join our team at our Head Office in Toronto, ON. Vacancy Status: New Role
Role:
As the Specialist, Information & Operation Technology, you will ensure reliable, efficient, and secure operation of building technologies while providing Level 1 and Level 2 user support for operational systems and related infrastructure.
- Support and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control networks (e.g., BACnet, Modbus)
- Provide technical support for security camera systems & video management, access control, intercom, and other building security systems
- Manage OT-related network infrastructure including VLAN segmentation, PoE switching, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, and remote connectivity
- Troubleshoot hardware, system, and network issues across multiple properties
User Support (Level 1 & Level 2):
- Provide Level 1 intake, triage, and resolution of OT-related incidents and service requests
- Escalate and manage Level 2 technical issues involving connectivity, configuration, and hardware troubleshooting
- Support property management and facilities teams with system access, account management, and basic end-user training
- Document incidents and resolutions while coordinating with Level 3 resources and vendors as required
- Assist with onboarding, commissioning, and integration of new building technologies
- Apply corporate security standards including secure remote access, segmentation, and patch/firmware lifecycle practices
- Coordinate vendors and telecom carriers for installations, maintenance, and escalations
- Maintain documentation including network diagrams, system inventories, and technical procedures
- Participate in incident response activities related to building technology systems
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives through documentation, standardization, and process refinement
Requirements:
To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates who demonstrate accountability, technical expertise, strong prioritization and time management skills, as well as a service-oriented approach in supporting multiple building environments
If this chance sounds interesting to you, you are likely to have the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science,
or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4–8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, networking, operational technology, or building systems support
- Experience providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support in a multi-site environment
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, routing, and switching
- Understanding of IT/OT security principles including least privilege, network segmentation, and secure remote access
- Experience supporting building automation, access control, or IP-based security systems
- Experience coordinating telecom providers and third-party vendors
- Strong communication skills and ability to support non-technical stakeholders
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
- Ability to travel to properties within the portfolio as required
- Valid G Class driver’s license (or ability to travel independently between sites)
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to approximately 50 lbs.)
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders as required
- Ability to perform hands-on installation and troubleshooting in mechanical, electrical, and equipment room environments
- Occasional after-hours work

Compensation:
At Primaris, we believe in rewarding talent with competitive wages and total compensation package. Your compensation is thoughtfully determined based on factors such as location, job level, relevant education or training, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, while ensuring internal equity and alignment with market data.
Expected Salary Range: CAD $80,000 – $100,000
