Our challenge
We are seeking a highly skilled .NET / C# Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high‑performance backend applications and services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, Web APIs, database design, and cloud‑based architectures, and will collaborate closely with frontend developers, architects, and product teams to deliver robust enterprise solutions.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET Core / .NET 6+
Build scalable and secure microservices‑based architectures
Develop and optimize business logic, data access layers, and service integrations
Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following SOLID principles and best practices
Integrate applications with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL,
or NoSQL)
Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2, Azure AD, Identity Server)
Ensure application performance, reliability, and scalability through profiling and optimization
Collaborate with frontend teams, architects, and DevOps for seamless integrations and deployments
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and automated testing initiatives
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and bugs
Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes in cloud environments
Requirements:
Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core / .NET Framework
Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services
Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns
Hands‑on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience with Entity Framework / Dapper or similar ORM tools
Knowledge of microservices architecture and API integration
Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub)
Understanding of asynchronous programming, multithreading, and memory management
Robust debugging, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
Preferred, but not required:
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure / AWS / GCP
Exposure to Docker and containerization
Experience with message brokers (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, MongoDB)
Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools
Understanding of API security, rate limiting, and caching (Redis)
