Buyer Responsibilities
- Create purchase orders for materials and services within corporate purchasing procedures.
- Monitor open PO reports and expedite when appropriate.
- Manage safety stock levels.
- Provide highest levels of service to production customers.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with suppliers and business associates.
- Conduct and participate in supplier ratings.
- Assist intermediate and senior buyers in the RFP process.
- Execute small RFQs independently.
- Analyze cost reduction opportunities and provide recommendations to the purchasing supervisor.
- Ensure all documentation is completed and approved, and business is accurately recorded and reported.
- Participate in training opportunities per annual development plans.
- Participate in cross‑training opportunities throughout the department.
- Support lean initiatives.
Ideal Candidate For This Position
- High school diploma and minimum 3 years’ experience.
- SMT and minimum 2 years’ experience.
- 4‑year university degree; basic understanding of corporate purchasing procedures; effective with computer applications such as FRED and Syteline; demonstrated initiative in handling moderately complex procurement assignments in a team environment; understanding of cross‑departmental functions; practical knowledge of materials and services used throughout the corporation.
