RQ07951 - Sr. Business Intelligence Specialist

Position responsible for delivering and supporting advanced business intelligence (BI) solutions to a broad client portfolio. The role requires deep expertise in data management, analytics, and stakeholder engagement across diverse public sector and private sector environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement, support and maintain BI software solutions (Power BI, Tableau, R, Python), including custom dashboard and reporting packages.
- Design, develop and sustain data extraction, transformation and load (ETL) pipelines, schedule/dependency logic, and monitoring/alert mechanisms for data quality and integrity.
- Build and maintain query applications, guided analysis features and drill‑down functionality to enable users to explore key business metrics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document interface specifications, integrating BI solutions with external applications and data sources.
- Lead training sessions and workshops for business users, covering analytics tools, data modeling best practices, and advanced statistical techniques.
- Participate in project management activities, including detailed planning, risk assessment, proof‑of‑concepts, and knowledge transfer activities to ensure sustainable delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

- 10+ years in analytics, BI or database design (SQL Server, Oracle).
- Extensive experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and large data environments.




- Proficiency in advanced analytics and statistical modelling (econometrics, regression, machine learning) and tools such as R, SAS, SPSS.
- Proven track record managing ETL development, automation, error‑notification and schedule management.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical findings to non‑technical audiences and coordinate across multiple teams.
- Experience ensuring data quality, developing feedback loops for data cleansing, and documenting architectural artifacts.
- Knowledge of public sector data governance, accessibility standards (AODA) and government IT standards.
- Robust consulting and relationship‑management skills, with demonstrable success in eliciting requirements and delivering guidance.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Power B I, Tableau, R Shiny and BI road‑mapping tools.
- Document management and version control experience using SharePoint, TFS, or equivalent.

Nice to Have

- Advanced data visualization or modeling tools (Power Designer, Visio, Google Analytics).
- Public sector or engineering background with experience on government platforms.
- Familiarity with R Shiny or Power BI Server requirement.

Knowledge Transfer

- Transfer all deliverables, design documents and training materials to the designated project repository one week prior to project completion or consultant departure.
- Conduct at least one walkthrough of documentation with project managers and ministry staff.
