We are leading a national search for anExecutive Directorto guide a respected non-profit Canadian medical specialty association through its next phase of strategic execution, stakeholder alignment, and organizational leadership. This is a consequential leadership mandate for a senior executive who knows how to translate Board direction into organizational execution, strengthen a national office team, and build trust across a complex stakeholder setting. The association has recently emerged from a meaningful period of renewal with stronger financial footing, improved member engagement, and stable governance. The next Executive Director will be expected to build on that progress by maintaining momentum on a multi-year strategic plan, supporting an engaged Board and Executive Committee, and ensuring the association continues to deliver clear value to members across Canada. The Executive Director will enable the association to deliver on its advocacy mandate by meeting its responsibilities within a broader global federation, supporting its affiliate foundations, volunteers and sustaining publication of its highly regarded specialty journal, an important platform for advancing research and practice. In this role, you will be expected to: Provide enterprise leadership for people, operations, finances, governance support, membership, communications, and major annual programming. Strengthen the effectiveness, clarity, and engagement of a remote national office team. Support a volunteer Board with strong reporting, sound planning, and credible execution.



Build productive relationships with members, committee and section leaders, academic leaders, foundation partners, and other external stakeholders. Help ensure the association remains relevant, trusted, and viewed by members as essential to their professional community. Contribute to the successful execution of the current strategic plan while helping position the organization for long-term impact. The early mandate is clear: Build trusted relationships quickly with the Board, staff, and key partners. Develop a sharp understanding of the organization’s culture, operations, and strategic priorities. Reinforce communication norms and decision-making discipline. Assess and strengthen team structure and culture to support the next phase of growth and stability. We are interested in speaking with leaders who bring: Senior leadership experience in a complex, stakeholder-driven organization. Experience working closely with a Board and navigating the line between governance and management. Strength in financial stewardship, planning, and organizational leadership. A track record of building healthy, accountable, high-performing teams. The judgment and influence required to lead through complexity without relying on formal authority alone. Experience in professional associations, academic or healthcare institutions, foundations or charities, or other mission-driven stakeholder-based organizations.
