Communications Specialist (12-month maternity replacement mandate)

WHO WE ARE

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a team-oriented worldwide movement for doping-free sport. As the global regulatory body, WADA’s primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries. Our key activities include: scientific and social science research; education; intelligence & investigations; development of anti-doping capacity; and, monitoring of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Program.

POSITION OVERVIEW

WADA’s Communications Department is responsible for developing and implementing WADA’s Communications Strategy and Plan in support of the Agency’s strategic and operational priorities. In so doing, the Communications Department promotes the WADA brand, its vision and mission and protects the Agency’s reputation.

The Communications Team has a global communications remit that includes:

- Communications Strategy and Planning.
- Branding and Corporate Identity.
- Media Relations & Leadership Communications.
- Corporate & Stakeholder Communications.
- Digital Marketing (including web and social media).
- Internal Communications.

We are looking for a proactive communicator who is organized, detail-oriented, resourceful and eager to adapt to new challenges. This is an ideal role for someone early in their communications career who thrives in a collaborative environment and is motivated by meaningful work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Communications Support





- Collaborates with members of the Communications team and other departments on a wide range of writing assignments aimed at communicating and promoting WADA’s activities via various channels.
- Provides support as needed for other areas of activity within the department.

Brand application/design coordination

- Will work in consultation with the Communications team, other departments, the brand champion network and external stakeholders as the Agency’s primary brand champion to ensure proper visual application of the brand and its related guidelines.
- Handles internal and external queries regarding visual application of the brand, including responding to logo use requests; and
- Coordinates design with designers, review & production of branding-related projects (signage, merchandise, etc.) from initiation to completion; in particular, in connection with external events (Symposia and Major Sports Events).

Project coordination

- Coordinates branding and logistics (liaising with suppliers, vendors and designers as needed) and various communications in connection with events.
- In collaboration with the Communications team and the Stakeholder Engagement impact area, plays a key coordination role in the overhaul of WADA’s global stakeholder database.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

- University degree in communications (or relevant discipline). Relevant experience may be considered as equivalent;




- Minimum of two to three years of communications/ or relevant experience;
- Excellent oral and written skills in one of the two WADA official languages (English/French) and very good command of the other official language. Additional languages are an asset;
- Excellent computer skills: SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and ability and interest to learn other software systems such as MailChimp and Content Management Systems;
- Experience with InDesign an asset;
- Very detail and solution-oriented mindset;
- High level organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and shift priorities as required;
- High level of discretion and confidentiality;
- Experience proofreading French documents would be considered an asset;
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work requirement;
- Fit with organizational culture: Teamwork, team spirit and love of sport;
