The Operations Engineering position will be responsible for supporting the safe and reliable operation of Steel Reef’s gas gathering facilities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to oversee and deliver engineering support for a large area of the operation. This position will report to the Manager, Operations Engineering and is intended to work from Steel Reef’s Calgary office. Consideration may be given to candidates interested in working from Steel Reef’s Lampman office in Southeast Saskatchewan. Regular visits to the Saskatchewan facilities are a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide key engineering support to pipelines, compressor stations and other surface facilities for a dedicated area of Steel Reef’s operations
Support the development, engineering and execution of new pipeline tie in’s, facility upgrades, and modifications
Respond to requests from the field operations team, lead troubleshooting as required and provide technical oversight of changes via the Management of Change (MOC) process
Work alongside Steel Reef’s Integrity team to support the execution of the pipeline integrity program including pipeline inspections, repairs, digs and abandonment
Assess operating trends and identify performance or reliability concerns
Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and/or reduce operating costs
Assist in the development of existing or current elements of the Operations Management System (OMS) and provide leadership in the field for implementation
Interface with key stakeholders and reporting of key operations plans or activities, including:
Provide feedback to business development team regarding system capabilities and operational considerations for future growth
Oversee engineering activities outsourced to third party EPC for new facilities and modifications
Coordination of contractors with operations for onsite work (Electrical, Mechanical, and Automation vendors)
Coordination of regulatory contractors including but not limited to programs such as Saskatchewan’s PNG017 and Pressure Equipment and Pipeline Integrity Management Systems
Participation in facility HAZOP studies and remedial actions
Required Skills, Experience & Education:
An Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma
Must be a registered professional engineer or technologist with a provincial association
10 years relevant engineering experience
Experience in oil and gas field operations with knowledge of compression, dehydration and pipelines
Knowledge of pipeline hydraulic & facility process modeling
Ability to coordinate and oversee the execution of field projects
Ability and willingness to make timely technical decisions and recommendations
Eagerness to travel regularly to operating sites;
Hold a valid driver's license
Team player with the ability to grow within a young company
Comfortable giving presentations and facilitating meetings
Ability to travel to the USA for business meetings
