As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance in a case management position. You will need to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. The Northern Alberta Program supports clients and their support people from a multitude of cultural and socioeconomical backgrounds that are infected with HIV. You will need to have a working knowledge of the diversity of HIV and its management strategies, including vaccine administration for this population, working knowledge of STI management, coordination of care with the goal of adherence and reduced transmission. The role involves assessing readiness for change and engaging adult learners to navigate themselves through their chronic disease management and set the patient up for long-term optimization. The Nurse networks to support internal / external resources that can promote the patient’s education and management such as community resources and alternate methods of access.

You will provide secure, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years,

3-5 years recent experience with chronic disease management required. 3-5 years of recent nursing experience in an ambulatory clinic required. 3-5 years of case management experience required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills. Ability to communicate in a concise and accurate manner with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required. Demonstrated competency with technology and ability to communicate effectively via virtual appointments required. Extensive experience in the inner-city community of Edmonton, specifically with marginalized communities is an asset. Highly skilled in venipuncture is required. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficit occurs.
Recent experience working with individuals with HIV in an outpatient clinic setting is required. Experience in obstetrical and pediatric care preferred. Knowledge of and established relationships with community agencies in inner-city Edmonton an asset. Experience with Netcare, MS Suite including Outlook, e-People. Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) - Connect Care required. Cervical PAP trained and STI testing competency an asset.
