About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Administrator to join our People team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, administering employee benefits programs, and maintaining compliance with applicable payroll regulations and company policies.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working with payroll systems, employee data, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy in payroll and HRIS systems
- Review and validate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and bonuses
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations (tax, deductions, statutory requirements)
- Prepare payroll reports and support internal audits when required
- Coordinate with Finance on payroll reconciliations and reporting
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs
- Manage benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
- Coordinate with external benefits providers and brokers
- Ensure benefits records and documentation are accurate and up to date
Employee Support & Compliance
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and benefits
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and compensation information
- Ensure payroll and benefits processes comply with company policies and labor regulations
- Support HR initiatives such as compensation updates, audits, and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–3 years of payroll or benefits administration experience
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and statutory deductions (CPP, EI, income tax, etc.)
- Experience with payroll or HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Rippling, Workday)
- Robust attention to detail and data accuracy
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll certification such as PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) is an asset
- Experience supporting multi-province payroll or fast-growing organizations
- Familiarity with HR reporting and data analysis
