We are a leading Canadian apparel import company seeking a Senior Apparel Technical Designer & Fit Specialist to take full ownership of our design and technical development department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing garment development—including fit, specs, and QC—while modernizing the department through AI-driven tools and workflows.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented leader who can maintain high standards and ensure smooth communication between design, production, and overseas suppliers. You should have a strong technical foundation and the ability to evolve into more effective, AI-supported processes

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Design & Fit Management

- Create and manage detailed tech packs and garment specifications.
- Develop accurate technical sketches and construction details.
- Execute orders and precise details for QC checking.
- Lead fit sessions and approvals, ensuring consistency across all categories and grading.
- Review and approve samples for bulk production, including colors and fabrics.

2. Production & Supplier Communication

- Communicate directly with overseas factories (primarily in Bangladesh and China) on corrections and production details.




- Oversee and execute quality control (QC) standards.
- Customer order follow up : Responsible for checking , sending samples for customer shipping approval within delivery deadlines.

3. Workflow & Team Leadership

- Department Organization: Organize all worksheets and internal workflows.
- Production Tracking: Update and follow up on all production styles, trims, and delivery dates to ensure deadlines are respected.
- Supervise and guide the design and QC team in daily schedule priorities .
- Introduce and utilize AI tools to improve design efficiency.

Required Sweater Expertise

Sweaters represent approximately 40% of our business; therefore, deep expertise in this category is essential:

- Strong knowledge of knit construction and stitch types.
- Deep understanding of gauges, yarns, and plies.
- Proven experience developing and troubleshooting sweater fit and production issues.

Qualifications

- Extensive experience in technical design and sweater development.
- Proven leadership ability and experience working with overseas production.
- High level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Highly organized & multitasker .
