nKey Information:nn

We are seeking an experienced Screed Operator to join our highway/ town paving crew.

The ideal candidate has strong paving experience, works well as part of a team, and understands the demands of both highway and municipal road projects.nEmployment: Seasonal nHours: Project dependent.

Overtime required.nMust be willing to work evenings/nights and weekends on various schedules.
nHourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:nn

Perform asphalt paving tasks including but not limited to: spreading and leveling asphalt, compacting surfaces using rollers, excavating and grading areas, and operating skid steers for various tasks.nOperate screed on asphalt paving operations for highway and town projects.nCommunicate clearly with foreman and crew to ensure smooth to environmental regulations and company policies regarding waste disposal and material usage.nConduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.nAbility to use automatic grade controls.nManually set angle and depth of screed.nOperate valves to regulate flow of material at a specified with asphalt paving operator on flow of paving machine.





Observes distribution of material over road surfaces to ensure uniform distribution.nUsing depth gauge, verify depth specifications of compacted asphalt.nMaintain the pace and continuity of the paving job.nPerform daily maintenance and safety checks on the equipment.nOther duties as required.nWork is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.nRequired to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous movements.nUse of personal protection equipment is required.nUse of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.nConsistent highway and town work.nOpportunity for long-term seasonal employment.nn

Experience and Certification Requirements:nn5 years' operating a screed is required.
nProven experience in highway and municipal paving.nExperience on large-scale highway projects considered an asset.nCSTS 2020), WHMIS 2015, and ground disturbance 201 are required.nA valid class 5(3A license required for Water Truck Operators) or better driver's license is required.
nA driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.nAbility to interpret project plans and communication and teamwork skills.nSafety Orientedn

Able to lift 50 lbs.nAble to work in a fast paced, high production workplace.nAble to work unsupervised.nAble to work well with others.nGood communication skillsnA reliable means of transportation is required.nProficient English language skills required.nn

Education: Completion of high school or equivalent is required.nGo ahead and be yourself.
