About the Role

The Accounts Payable Supervisor at AVL Manufacturing oversees the Accounts Payable (AP) function, managing staff, ensuring accurate and timely payments, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and aligning with global standards. This leadership role involves managing the AP team, supporting financial reporting, compliance, monitoring metrics, and driving process improvements.

Responsibilities

- Leadership and Management: The AP Supervisor plans, assigns, and reviews the daily tasks, evaluates performance, and ensures equitable workload distribution among the team. This leader is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating staff to foster professional growth. The supervisor focuses on the most efficient use of resources, recommends process improvements, and ensures proper backup and documentation for all tasks.
- Reporting and Analysis:



Prepare and evaluate AP payments, identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost savings opportunities, and clearly communicate findings and recommendations to management.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Establish procedures to mitigate fraud risk, ensure adherence to regulations, and maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Strategic Initiatives and Collaboration: The AP Supervisor leads projects like AP automation, expense report automation, financial statement automation, and fixed asset system procurement, oversees cost accounting and inventory management, collaborates with FP&A; for forecasting, and aligns local practices with global finance standards.
- Audit and Documentation: Facilitate internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting AP processes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive AP experience, including supervisor experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a high-performing team.
- Experience in working in a start-up, manufacturing, or multinational operations is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to resolve issues.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Pay range and compensation package

75,000-80,000
