Student Engagement and Retention provides and facilitates transformational and engaging opportunities that contribute to a student's overall development, helping them be academically successful.

This includes our new student transition programing that welcomes, informs and connects new students to the SFU community.

Our unit supports the academic mission of the university by helping new students in their transition into the institution, as well as supporting specific populations of students including Uggla Family Scholarship recipients and NCAA students.

We also provide academic advising to students in academic difficulty, and administer central student retention programs, such as the Back on Track program.

Our team culture is student centered and collaborative.

About the Role
Coordinates the delivery of Student Engagement and Retention advising appointments, activities, programs, and other departmental events.

Provides support for unit programs, which include preparing and distributing unit and program materials, monitoring and processing program registrations and unit activities, working with other units on campus to arrange program logistics, and updating student records, as needed.

Provides administrative,



clerical and secretarial support services to the Student Engagement and Retention unit.

Reconciles and monitors operating budgets and prepares projections for review by the Associate Director, Director, and/or Managers.

Provides support for special projects, including providing individual and group user training.

Acts as a key resource person for the unit for the File

Maker and Student Success database systems, including providing advanced problem-solving support, data collection and analysis/interpretation.

Full Job Description
Qualifications
High school graduation and two years of post-secondary education including training in word processing, database, spreadsheet and web updating applications; bookkeeping/basic accounting principles. 3 years of experience.

An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

Ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, and calendar scheduling applications (e.g., MSWord, File

Maker Pro Excel, and Tableau) at an advanced level.

Ability to use enterprise-level information/accounting/student information systems (e.g., People

Soft/FAST/SIMS) at an intermediate level.

Ability to work independently, prioritize work and complete a high volume of work within deadlines.





Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Excellent attention to detail, proofreading, and editing skills.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
