Community Futures North Fraser is seeking a Community Small Business Advisor. ( Official title is - Community Development Officer) who is passionate about raising the profile of our organization and making a meaningful impact in the region. About the Role

This is a dynamic, relationship-focused position where you will spend a significant amount of time out in the community — networking, attending events, and acting as the friendly, trusted face of Community Futures North Fraser.

You will work directly with small business owners at all stages of their journey, providing practical guidance and support while helping to strengthen the local economy. A major focus of this role is increasing awareness of our programs and services so more local entrepreneurs know where to turn for help.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will manage your own portfolio of clients and play a key role in positioning CFNF as the go-to resource for small business support in the Mission, Harrison Hot Springs, and Agassiz region.

Key Responsibilities





- Build Strong Community Relationships Actively network and develop long-term, trusted relationships with local entrepreneurs, chamber of commerce members, community organizations, and business owners.
- Raise the Profile of CFNF Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization by attending events, delivering workshops, speaking at community meetings, and proactively increasing awareness of our services across the region.
- Support Small Businesses Provide one-on-one guidance to entrepreneurs on business planning, growth opportunities, challenges, and next steps, including basic financial guidance.
- Manage a Client Portfolio Guide clients from initial inquiry through ongoing support, conduct site visits, and maintain strong, supportive relationships.
- Identify Opportunities Review business ideas and requests, offer recommendations, and connect entrepreneurs with the right resources and solutions.
- Assessments Review and evaluate financing requests. (assess loan applications based on business potential)

What We’re Looking For

- A genuine people-person who thrives on building relationships and community engagement
- Natural networker with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for small business success and local economic development
- Solid understanding of small business financials (such as reading basic financial statements, budgeting, or cash flow) is key. Experience in banking, lending, credit, or financial services is considered a strong asset and preferred
- High energy, initiative, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently while being a strong team player in a small organization
