PBI Actuarial Consultants Ltd. is currently seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
To fulfill this role, the individual will:
- Assist the preparation of actuarial valuations for pension plans, including data validation, asset reconciliation, programming of liabilities in Pro Val, gain/loss analysis and test case checking
- Value liabilities under various plan design scenarios for special costings
- Interact with clients in administrative tasks such as pension benefit calculations, client data and benefit statements
- Participate in investment studies including ALM, rate of return and liquidity analysis
- Interpret and apply pension plan texts, administrative policies and related legislation
- Remit governmental compliance documents
- Draft reports, presentations and other various internal and client documents
- Assist with work on special projects including industry surveys and benchmark studies
- Prospect to support work across consulting practice lines in group benefits and investments
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of actuarial or consulting experience, preferably in a pension related field
- University degree in actuarial science, finance, mathematics, statistics, or other related degrees
- Progress towards attaining actuarial designations
- Proficient with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment while also being self-sufficient
- Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail and commitment to task
- Ability to manage priorities and work on multiple simultaneous projects within strict deadlines
Terms and conditions of employment
- Permanent employment
- 37.5-hour weekly schedule
- Hybrid schedule - currently our policy is 2 mandatory in-office days (Tuesday / Thursday). During the first 6-month training period more in-office days may be needed
- Enrolment in extended health benefits, group RRSP and company pension plan
- Salary dependent on experience and our internal policy in force (yearly salary between $60,000 and $70,000 + annual performance bonus).
- Enrolment in PBI’s actuarial exam program which covers exam and study material costs as well as providing study time support
