Rate of Pay: Payband G (Start Rate: $34.60 per hour)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Athletics and Recreation, the Recreation, Fitness & Sports Clinic Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and promotion of the Recreation, Fitness and Camp programs offered by the Department of Athletics & Recreation. This portfolio will include the coordination of a variety of programs including intramurals, extramurals, adventure programming, special events, fitness and coordination of our summer camp and academy programs.

Further, the incumbent is also responsible for contributing to the daily operation of the Department of Athletics & Recreation and all of its associated programs.

What you’ll be doing:

Intramural Sport

- Organization and implementation of intramural leagues and tournaments.
- Investigates, plans and executes intramural league and tournament schedule for the year.
- Schedule intramural programming based on gym availability in conjunction with high-performance and external programming.
- Communicates with students regarding programs, services and information related to recreation leagues, tournaments and other programming.
- Promotes and encourages student participation in recreation leagues and other active programming.
- Organizes an appreciation event for all rec participants at the end of the year.

Extramural Sport

- Be the primary representative of Mohawk College Athletics from an extramural perspective.
- Organizes and administers Extramural initiatives as hosted by Mohawk College and ensures representation by Mohawk College at external events.
- Works with coaches to select teams to participate.
- Schedule tryouts and practices in coordination with Manager of Athletics and Recreation.




- Determine extramural tournaments to be entered based on budget and time allocation.
- Ensures travel arrangements are complete and equipment is prepared.
- Acts as a College Representative for any committee or group that governs college recreational athletics activities.

Adventure Programming and Special Events

- Utilizing resources in Hamilton and surrounding area, build adventure programming opportunities for the Mohawk student population.
- Showcase the City of Hamilton by creating off-campus opportunities to explore hiking trails, walking trails and other programing plans outside of the college campus.
- Organizes and chaperones off campus recreation trips.
- Investigate online recreation opportunities; based on online programming on data and surveying of students.

Fitness Programming

- Assist and guide the Fitness Coordinator in planning and programming fitness classes for the Mohawk community.
- Ensure that fitness class schedule meets the needs of the Mohawk college campus community.
- Ensure programs are administered within allocated resources
- Oversight of fitness equipment including repair log and repairs; coordinate maintenance of equipment with the Manager of Athletics and Recreation.

Coordination of Summer Camps and Youth Programming

- Responsible for the organization and administration of the Mohawk Mountaineers sports camps and academy. This is a 6-12 week revenue generating program with substantial community engagement and impact, with levels ranging from recreation to high performance skills development.
- Organize program weeks with sport-specific coaches.
- Marketing and promotion of camps with aim to fill every available seat.
- Ability to be in office to assist with organization of camps.
- Oversee and provide mentorship and support for camp staff.
- Organizes registration process and signup for camps.

What you’ll bring to the role:

- A minimum of two years of post-secondary education in disciplines such as Recreation and Leisure, Fitness, Sports Business,



Facility Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Access to reliable transportation required.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in a Recreational/Fitness Facility.
- Recreational program planning and/or sports administration.
- Good knowledge of common computer software.
- Experience and knowledge in: recreation program investigation, development, implementation, and review; a variety of sports and their respective sport regulating bodies; working with youth/young adults; summer camps.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
