About the Opportunity
Payroll Operations
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for unionized and non-unionized staff across multiple legal entities, covering both weekly and bi-weekly pay cycles
- Compute and validate regular earnings and special payments, including overtime, shift premiums, incentives, retro pay, vacation accruals, and statutory holiday entitlements
- Implement payroll updates tied to hires, terminations, leaves, role changes, and other employee status changes
- Balance payroll outputs by reconciling payroll summaries to general ledger accounts
- Generate and file required payroll documentation and reports, including ROEs, T4s, T4As, and internal payroll analyses
- Prepare and post monthly payroll-related journal entries
Benefits and Retirement Programs
- Manage enrollment and ongoing administration of group benefit and insurance offerings
- Coordinate retirement and savings plans such as RRSPs and defined contribution pension plans
- Act as the primary point of contact with benefits and pension providers
- Review and reconcile benefits invoices and related payroll deductions
- Address employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and retirement programs
Regulatory Compliance
- Apply federal and provincial employment standards, including the Canada Labour Code and Ontario ESA
- Ensure adherence to CRA requirements and collective bargaining agreements
- Maintain complete and accurate payroll and benefits records to support audits and reviews
Systems and Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee and payroll data within HRIS and payroll platforms
- Investigate and resolve system-related issues and assist with system updates or implementations
- Experience with Dayforce is considered a strong asset
About You
- 5+ years of full cycle payroll and benefits experience
- Mid-large size ERP experience is required
- Union experience
- Comfortable being in a standalone role/wearing many hats at a small, growing company
Salary Range
$70,000 - $80,000 /year
