Skilled Staffing is partnering with a growing North American organization to find a hands-on Controller with exposure to multi-entity operations, including the U.S. This role is based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role supports a scaling organization as the finance lead, with a focus on improving and streamlining existing processes to drive operational efficiency.

Please note that this role on on-site, 5 days a week, with potential movement to a hybrid model thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

- Full ownership of the month-end close process, including standalone financial statements and multi-entity consolidations
- Preparation of comprehensive monthly reporting packages and financial presentation for Senior Leadership and the Board
- Delivery of variance analytics, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) and the identification of fundamental business drivers
- Support of strategic decision-making through advanced financial analysis, scenario modeling, and ad-hoc reporting

Financial Planning & Strategy

- Leadership of the multi-entity budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-term plans
- Proactive identification of cost efficiencies and operational improvements across the organization
- Oversight of working capital management, including the development of rolling cash flow projections

Treasury & Compliance

- Management of cash flow and investments, including maintaining banking relationships and ensuring adherence to debt covenants
- Oversight of all regulatory, statutory,



and tax filings across Canada and the U.S.
- Management of intercompany reconciliations and cross-border settlements
- Acting as the primary liaison for external accountants and tax authorities to ensure full compliance

Operational Excellence & Controls

- Oversight of core accounting operational functions
- Continuous maintenance and enhancement of internal controls to mitigate organizational risk
- Integration of accounting treatments for new or updated standards (ASPE)
- Maintenance and optimization of financial ERP modules, coordinating with third-party providers as required

Experience:

- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years in a leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of ASPE
- Experience in a multi-entity environment, inclusive of intercompany transacting
- Knowledge of multi-provincial Canadian payroll and high-level U.S. payroll & tax requirements
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced MS Excel Skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders
- Strong cross functional collaborative skills, maintaining positive relationships

Value Adds (Assets)

- CPA Designation
- Hands-on experience with ERP implementation or system integrations
- Proven track record of process improvement and automation both within a finance function and through other business areas
- Direct experience with the financial integration of mergers and acquisitions (M&A;)

Compensation:

- $110K to $140K
- 3 weeks’ vacation
- Extended benefits, including paramedical services
- On-site parking
