Building Science Project Manager
Civil Engineering
Your new company
Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary consulting firm in the GTA with a strong track record supporting building owners, property managers, and project stakeholders through complex building envelope and structural restoration work. Known for technical depth and a collaborative team culture, the firm offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, lead meaningful projects, and mentor developing staff while continuing to expand your own technical and project leadership skills.
Your new role
As a Project Manager (Building Science / Building Restoration), you will lead a range of façade, balcony, parking garage, roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope initiatives from early investigation through design, tender, and construction delivery. You’ll act as a technical and delivery lead – balancing hands-on field work, report/specification development, coordination with external parties, and oversight of project financials – while helping guide junior staff and contributing to proposal pursuits.
- Lead building envelope and restoration projects end-to-end: investigation, assessment, repair design/specification, tender support, and construction-phase services.
- Plan and execute field investigations and condition assessments (e.g., garages, balconies, roofs, façades, waterproofing systems), documenting deficiencies and developing practical rehabilitation strategies.
- Produce high-quality technical deliverables including investigation reports, renewal/capital planning documents, repair recommendations, and coordinated project records.
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and tender packages; support procurement and bid evaluation where required.
- Provide construction-phase oversight: field reviews, site meetings, progress tracking, review of contractor questions,
and support for contract administration activities.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and specialty consultants to ensure clear communication, alignment on priorities, and fully coordinated outcomes.
- Identify and manage project risks, quality control measures, and schedule/budget considerations throughout delivery.
- Oversee project health: forecasting, invoicing accuracy, and follow-up on receivables in collaboration with internal teams.
- Mentor and guide junior staff through technical review, coaching, and structured task delegation to help build internal capability.
- Contribute to business growth by supporting proposal development, identifying opportunities with existing contacts, and representing the firm at industry touchpoints.
- Support continuous improvement by refining internal standards, workflows, and technical best practices.
- Maintain a strong commitment to health and safety in the field and on active sites.
What you'll need to succeed
- 8+ years of consulting experience in building science, building envelope, and/or structural restoration (or a closely related discipline).
- Post-secondary education in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or Architectural/Engineering Technology (or equivalent relevant training).
- Demonstrated experience leading investigations and translating findings into clear repair strategies, scopes, and client-ready deliverables.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes/standards for restoration and envelope work (e.g., Ontario Building Code and common industry standards).
- Strong technical writing, stakeholder communication, and presentation skills—able to manage expectations and keep projects moving.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
- Valid Class G driver’s license and willingness to attend local sites as required.
- Tools exposure (examples): MS Office/Excel, PDF markups/review tools, and CAD viewing/markups (AutoCAD exposure is an asset).
- Registration (P. Eng.) is an asset; strong non-P. Eng. practitioners with proven restoration leadership will also be considered.
What you'll get in return
- Salary range: $90-$100k
- Performance-based growth opportunities.
- Bonus component offered.
- Flexible working arrangements (with hybrid potential once established in the role) and a culture that supports work-life integration.
- Professional development support through internal mentorship and sponsored training opportunities.
- Company events and a team-first environment where your contributions are visible and valued.
- Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
- Half work day allocated each week
- Fun team energetic with inclusive coffee outings and celebrations etc when in office
- Onsite parking
