Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC), with the support of 2026 Work Integrated Learning funding, is offering a full-time temporary position with our organization.

Playwrights Guild of Canada is a national arts service organization and a registered charity.

The organization supports playwrights across the country and is a busy office setting requiring all employees to be dedicated team members, good communicators, organized and capable of managing multiple projects.

The position is administrative and can be completed in a remote, in office or hybrid environment.

Public programming is in-person and online, to allow for participation from members in various regions across the country.

The Communications Assistant will work closely with the PGC team and report to the Executive Director.

The position will cover a variety of programming, administrative, and communications duties.

Responsibilities will include: Communications:
Writing articles
Preparing feature stories
Interviews
Newsletter preparation
Website postings
Website updates
Research: Shopify research
Statistics research
Production survey
Programming: Inventory at Canadian Play Outlet (CPO)
Assistance adding new products to CPO
Product updates to CPO
Assist with book royalty distribution to authors
Community outreach
Distribution of marketing materials
Other program elements, as required
Administrative: Email management (sending, receiving, tracking and follow up) with stakeholders
Cloud documents and filing (Office 365) The Communications Assistant will be required to work with online sales systems, database systems, Word

Press, social media, Mail

Chimp, spreadsheets,



word processing, email, and cloud files.

The Communications Assistant will attend regular staff meetings, ad hoc meetings, and work with internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a communications, marketing, arts administration, administration, business or performing arts program.

The position requires a high level of written and oral professional communication.

The candidate must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and maintain a keen attention to detail and deadlines.

The candidate must have their own computer and access to reliable internet.
