The base salary will be $62,480 - $89,040 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Operations and Finance, the Administrative Coordinator (Operations Coordinator) is responsible for carrying out a broad range of operational (human resources, finance, research and facilities) administrative functions, and will facilitate the implementation of operational practices, policies and programs for the School of Kinesiology, School of Health Studies and the Brescia School of Food & Nutritional Sciences. This role acts as a key support in post-award research administration to ensure compliance with Western’s policies, procedures, collective agreements and government legislation. The Administrative Coordinator will provide responsive and efficient financial,



human resource and other administrative support and service and assist in the resolution of administrative issues.

Qualifications

Education:

- Undergraduate University Degree in Business Administration or a related field
- Master’s Degree in a related discipline such as Business Administration, Human Resources or Accounting is preferred
- Completion of, or working towards, Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) Designation or Charted Professional Accountant Designation (CPA) would be an asset

Experience:

- 3 years’ progressive administrative management experience supporting human resources and financial functions in a unionized setting
- Experience supervising others or being a team lead
- Experience working in a health, education or public sector environment is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of general office procedures, Human Resources principles and practices, and financial budgeting and principles
- Knowledge of Western collective agreements and employment policies preferred
- Familiarity with the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Canadian Payroll Legislation, and Pay Equity
- Demonstrated analytical ability with a solid understanding of accounting principles
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
- Detail oriented with an ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of faculty, staff, co-workers,



and others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and superior multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing deadlines
- A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, provide a rationale for action and to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
