Distribution Operations Manager

Summary: Reporting to the Division President, the Distribution Operations Manager oversees that national operational strategy, execution, and performance across 21 Supply Centers. Responsibilities include capital planning, fleet and facilities management, inventory control, logistics and freight optimization, and safety and compliance.

Objective:

- Continuous improvement and standardization across distribution branches for spatial organization and facility layouts, including warehouse specifications and product storage, service counter areas, and showrooms.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility is maximized: prudent sourcing for all location-related costs to reduce non-budgeted costs, and/or to net cost reductions.

Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy

- Develop and manage the annual national capital budget, overseeing project prioritization and planning.
- Support Operations Coordinator in maintaining Gentek’s distribution fleer program and vendor management.
- Drive national initiatives for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and customer experience enhancement.
- Train and support Facilities Manager in branch relocations, facility improvements, and decommissioning activities.

Inventory Management

- Oversee national inventory performance including physical inventory planning, counting, execution, and audit compliance.
- Manage inventory control systems: obsolescence reporting, replenishment processes, and audit controls.
- Train Branch Managers and Warehouse Supervisors on proper inventory control methods and best practices.




- Create and implement standardized processes for inventory procedures.

Safety, Compliance & Training

- Support US safety managers and Canadian Operations Coordinator in national safety programs.
- Facilitate training for managers, supervisors, and employees on operational safety and best practices.
- Establish appropriate cadence (monthly, quarterly, annually) to conduct routine safety inspections and assist in developing corrective action plans to reduce hazards and prevent workplace incidents.

Training

- Participate in onboarding and development of Branch Managers and Warehouse Supervisors.
- Promote continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Skill

- Minimum post-secondary education in Business, Operations, or related field.
- P&L; or large cost-center management experience considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operational systems (AS400, Power BI).
- Project Management: Superior organization and time management skills.
- Sound working knowledge of applicable safety rules and requirements.
- Experience leading national or multi-site operations with distribution, manufacturing, or building-material sector.
- Demonstrated success in capital planning, inventory control, logistics optimization, and safety program management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills,



change management experience, and strategic problem-solving ability.

Environment & Physical/Mental Demands

- Must be able to safely lift 50lbs.
- Distribution branch physical environment: noise, fluctuating temperature due to bay doors being open, constant stimulation of senses (visual, audio distractions).
- Sound spatial orientation aptitude for order and efficiency in warehouse space.
- Requirement to travel across Canada, as needed, and occasionally to the U.S.
