Overview:
As an Intermediate Engineer within the Telecom Engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of telecommunications networks. You will work on high-performance transport systems and critical connectivity solutions that support utility operations, SCADA, grid protection, and cybersecurity across the province.
What you will be doing?
- Support the design of telecom networks and circuits, ensuring reliability, performance, and security for real-time grid operations and evolving technologies
- Contribute to engineering deliverables including drawings, material ordering, and material management for telecom infrastructure such as microwave, fiber optics (DWDM/OTN), LTE, IP/MPLS, SONET, and radio systems (TETRA/VHF/UHF)
- Work closely with Project Managers and construction teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex field issues while supporting installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Ensure all engineering work aligns with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices
- Participate in site visits and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to validate design intent and support field execution and emergency restoration
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience in telecommunications system design and engineering
- Experience with one or more telecom technologies such as fiber optics, microwave systems, LTE, IP/MPLS networks, teleprotection, or power systems communications
- Knowledge of IP/MPLS architecture including protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS/VPN, QoS, and traffic engineering
- Exposure to IP/MPLS platforms (e.g., Nokia) and L2/L3 VPN configurations is an asset
What you need to have?
- Solid technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating within a team environment
- Understanding of project delivery, contract management, and construction support
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for site-based work
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration
- Familiarity with CAD systems and engineering drawing standards
- Proficiency with engineering tools and standard MS Office applications
