The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the end-to-end financial reporting and fund accounting cycles for a range of venture capital and private equity funds at Plaza Ventures. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial information while maintaining strong internal controls in adherence to accounting standards and governing policies. The position contributes to the preparation of financial statements, management reports, investor deliverables, and other key financial outputs that support both internal and external stakeholders. The role requires a robust understanding of fund structures, accounting and tax principles, and investment operations to accurately reflect the financial position and performance of each fund. This role reports to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee fund reporting and administration, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of quarterly NAV statements and reports
- Preparation of quarterly investor reports outlining qualitative and quantitative updates for each fund and its investments
- Support tax reporting process by reviewing partnership, corporate returns, and tax slips prepared by partner firms and assist in communicating tax outcomes to investors
- Perform fund-level reconciliations on investor commitments and paid-up capital, review fund expense activity, and ensure investments are accurately reported in quarterly and year-end reporting
- Prepare investor reporting for selected investors, including customized reports,
performance summaries, and analytical reports tailored to client-specific requirements
- Maintain LP portal, which gives investors access to statements, transaction history, tax slips, and marketing opportunities
- Maintain fund performance reporting, ensuring transactions and KPI’s are reflected accurately
- Manage key aspects of financial statement audits, partnering closely with external audit teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables, resolve complex accounting matters, and achieve clean audit results
- Proactively challenge the status quo and offer innovative ideas to improve efficiency, strengthen processes, and enhance the quality of services for internal and external stakeholders
- Support team development by training and mentoring colleagues, sharing technical expertise, and promoting best practices
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting roles
- Experience with tax reporting and compliance is an asset
- CPA designation or in progress
- Investment fund or private equity experience is preferred
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent planning, organizational, and strategic skills to manage year-round deliverables and competing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and influence both internal and external stakeholders
- Exposure to the property valuations and appraisals is considered an asset
