Our client is seeking an experienced Interim VP Finance to provide immediate leadership for a private equity–backed manufacturing company during a period of transition. In this role, you will partner closely with the CFO, operations leadership, and the PE sponsor to stabilize and strengthen financial processes.
The business operates in a regulated manufacturing environment with a global customer base and strong financial performance. You will be expected to move quickly, take a hands‑on approach, and deliver materially improved forecasting, reporting, and operational insight—bringing discipline, credibility, and confidence to the organization at a critical time
What You’ll Lead
- Forecasting & Reporting: Validate and enhance forecasting models, management reporting, and cash visibility to PE standards.
- Variance & Performance: Drive rigorous month‑to‑month variance analysis; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Operations Partnership: Work with Operations & Supply Chain to define metrics, track throughput and yields, and link operational levers to P&L;/CF.
- Systems & Data: Assess the current toolset; recommend quick wins to better leverage SAP and reduce Excel dependency.
- Team & Ways of Working: Evaluate finance team capacity and cadence; coach and raise the bar without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Budget Readiness: Support planning and scenario work ahead of the annual budget cycle.
What Success Looks Like
30 Days
- Immediate bandwidth added as a first line of defense for the CFO
- Clear assessment of forecasting tools, reporting integrity, and finance team capabilities
- Priority variance issues identified and operating cadence established with Operations and the PE sponsor
60 Days
- Cleaner monthly close and improved execution capacity across the finance function
- Enhanced visibility into working capital, margins, and performance drivers
- Budget‑ready framework in place with credible scenarios and a clear view of team strengths and gaps
90 Days
- Finance embedded as a cross‑functional partner, linking operational KPIs to financial outcomes
- Root causes of key variances addressed with corrective actions in place
- Systems and tools assessed with practical recommendations implemented or underway
Ideal Profile
- Background: Senior finance leader from manufacturing/packaging; exposure to regulated or complex, multi‑SKU environments is beneficial.
- PE Acumen: Comfortable with urgency, accountability, and board‑level reporting.
- Toolset: Strong command of management reporting and cost/throughput analytics; experience improving SAP utilization.
- Leadership Style: Action‑oriented, pragmatic, and team-oriented—able to mentor, influence, and execute at pace.
- Industry Expertise: Manufacturing experience is a must; ideally within regulated industries: Mining, Pharma, Cannabis, Food, Alcohol Bev
- Availability: Ready to start immediately; full‑time on‑site.
