Senior Maintenance Technician

Fitzrovia is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team and manage a landmark development, Sen̓áḵw, in the Vancouver Market. The Senior Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the optimal functionality and appearance of the community. This position demands a high level of technical expertise and advanced maintenance skills to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. The Senior Maintenance Technician is also expected to guide and support other team members, sharing knowledge and providing direction in more complex maintenance tasks.

As we are a highly collaborative team, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site full-time. The regular work schedule for this role will be Tuesday – Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off.

Responsibilities:

- Address resident service requests with advanced troubleshooting and repair skills, ensuring all maintenance issues are resolved efficiently and to the highest standard
- Prepare market-ready apartments, performing tasks such as painting, carpet repair,



and general repairs with a focus on precision and quality to create a top-tier living environment for new residents
- Maintain and enhance community areas, including grounds, pools, common areas, and dog parks, ensuring they are always clean, secure, and visually appealing
- Utilize the online portal to accurately update and manage work orders, ensuring all tasks are completed within the designated timeframes and according to best practices
- Assist and mentor other maintenance team members, offering guidance and expertise in handling more complex or unfamiliar maintenance challenges
- Perform regular inspections of property systems and common areas, carrying out preventative maintenance to prevent larger issues and maintain property integrity
- Execute on-call emergency procedures, applying your advanced skills to ensure resident safety and the protection of property assets
- Identify and report any maintenance issues that impact the budget, including life safety concerns, vacant repairs, and common area needs, to the Property Manager
- Stay current with provincial, local, and federal housing laws, codes, and policies related to property maintenance, ensuring compliance across all activities
- Deliver exceptional customer service, consistently representing Fitzrovia with professionalism in interactions with residents, colleagues, and the public
- Ensure all company tools and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition, safeguarding them for optimal use

Qualifications and Experiences:

- Provide a 5-star living experience by delivering exceptional customer service to all prospects, residents, and guests. Champion initiatives that strengthen resident satisfaction, elevate brand reputation and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw values
- High school diploma or equivalent required, post secondary education in a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in residential, purpose-built rental, or hotel work environments
- High degree of proficiency in various maintenance functions, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting. Previous experience in construction, HVAC,



and plumbing is preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, coworkers, and management, as well as for writing reports and correspondence
- Ability to use property management software, online portals, and other digital tools effectively for managing work orders and maintenance tasks
- Understanding of the safe use of cleaning agents and equipment, along with knowledge of life safety issues
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as policy manuals and safety guidelines and write routine reports

On-Call Expectations:

- The Maintenance Technician is expected to be available for on-call duties as scheduled. This includes responding to emergency maintenance requests outside of regular working hours to ensure building and resident safety and comfort

Workplace Conditions:

- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and pushing up to 50lbs
- Working in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in challenging weather conditions
- Working in construction environments during the property's opening phase, with exposure to dust, heat, noise, and other related conditions
