Job Summary:

A Concrete and Formwork Quality Control (QC) Person is responsible for ensuring that all concrete, reinforcing steel, and formwork systems on a construction project meet, or exceed, project specifications, industry standards (e.g., CSA, ACI, ASTM), and structural safety requirements. They monitor, inspect, and document the entire process, from material delivery and formwork setup to the final placement and curing of the concrete to prevent defects and minimize rework.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Pour Inspection (Formwork & Reinforcement)

- Formwork Verification: Inspect formwork for proper dimensions, alignment, stability, bracing, and cleanliness prior to concrete placement.
- Reinforcement (Rebar) Inspection: Verify that rebar is placed, tied, and spaced according to structural drawings, including checking chair heights and concrete cover.
- Embedment Inspection: Check that anchor bolts, conduits, and other embedded items are correctly installed.

Concrete workability and quality at point of discharge

- Batching & Material Checks: Monitor batch plant operations to ensure proper mix design, material quality, and aggregate gradation. (only during concrete quality disputes)
- Truck spacing and pour rate monitoring: Take note of batch times and discharge times.
- Review mix at point of truck discharge: Slump review,



ensure that mix is homogeneous and workable.
- Review mix at point of placement: Review slump, and ensure that slump lose due to placing method (pumps, crane, or shotcrete) is within tolerance for workability during finishing operation.

Post-Pour Inspection and Curing

- Curing Inspection: Monitor concrete curing processes, including temperature, moisture, and duration, to ensure proper strength development.
- Hardened Concrete Inspection: Visually inspect finished, hardened concrete for defects like cracks, honeycombing, or surface irregularities.
- Formwork Removal: Verify that concrete has achieved adequate strength before formwork is removed (stripping).

Documentation and Reporting

- QC Reporting: Prepare, review, and maintain daily QC reports, inspection checklists, and testing records.
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs): Identify, document, and report any non-conforming work (defects) and work with production teams to implement corrective actions.
- Data Management: Enter test data into databases (e.g., Excel) and maintain calibration records for testing equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

- Experience: Generally 2–5 years of experience in concrete quality control, material testing, or field inspection.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Physical Ability: Must be physically fit, able to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and work in various weather conditions (cold/heat).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with contractors, engineers, and clients.

Working Workplace

- This role involves working outdoors or in a plant environment, often walking on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces.
- It requires strict adherence to safety standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) regulations.

Salary Range: $ 80,000-$1,00,000 per Year

Final Compensation will be determined based on skills, experience & expertise.
