Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Financial Controller join our client and serve as the primary financial steward of the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and optimizing accounting operations. The Controller will provide strategic financial oversight to support long-term business goals while leading a high-performing accounting team.
This individual will oversee daily accounting functions, manage complex treasury activities (including cash and funding forecasts), and act as the lead contact for audits and regulatory compliance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/ASPE/ASNPO.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate account reconciliations.
- Review and approve payments, adjustments, and other financial transactions to safeguard assets.
- Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, and insight into trends and potential risks.
- Present monthly financial results to senior leadership with strategic context.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and efficiency initiatives.
- Support documentation and standardization of accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Prepare and submit GST filings and coordinate installment payments.
Treasury, Forecasting & Strategic Planning
- Develop and maintain detailed cash flow forecasts to ensure organizational liquidity.
- Track debt, financing,
and mortgage obligations on a project-by-project basis.
- Prepare lender, loan compliance, and funding-related reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support ad hoc reporting and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Oversee corporate credit card programs, banking relationships, and investment accounts.
Audit, Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, including preparation, coordination, and follow-up.
- Partner with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
- Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control frameworks.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of grant- and funding-related financial reporting.
- Maintain financial records in compliance with audit, tax, and regulatory requirements.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and performance accountability.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics for the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and support coaching, development, and corrective action.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and inclusive team culture.
- Support succession planning and lead teams through organizational change.
Must Haves
- CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation).
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP / ASPE / ASNPO and internal control frameworks.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Yardi, or similar).
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

- Background in public accounting or a regulated environment (non-profit, government, healthcare).
- Experience managing grant or funding-related financial reporting.
- Exposure to treasury functions, loan compliance, or debt financing.
