We are currently seeking a part time HR Contractor who shares our passion for innovation, creativity, and results. The role is based in the Toronto office, responsible for about 40 employees and will be directly reporting to the Chief financial Officer and will be responsible to support and oversee the implementation of a long-term strategy and day-to-day activities of our Human Resources activities during this dynamic time in the company’s growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Implement the Human Resources strategy and initiatives that deliver on the overall business strategy.
· Provide important metrics and consult with the Human Resources Committee in advance of implementation
· Deliver effective day-to-day Human Resource areas activities including:
o Manage the recruitment and selection process including posting job opening, screening resumes and coordinating interviews.
o Lead onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires and departing employees.
o Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
o Track compensation plans, pay plan and benefit program.
o Assess training needs, administer and monitor training programs.
o Manage all employee relations and grievances.
o Develop, implement and follow-up on all company policies, procedures and documentation to employees.
o Lead employee engagement initiatives and contribute to positive workplace culture.
o Collaborate with Avicanna’s finance department in all activities related to payroll, benefits, and help administer and support employees with enquiries and changes.
o Handle general HR administrative tasks and provide advice to the Chief Financial Officer as needed.
o Draft and provide employment confirmation letters, HR communications, and other requested documentation on an ad-hoc basis.
o Maintains knowledge of trends, practices, and developments in human resources.
o Work with the legal department to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding policies, procedures, and development (including parental leave, vacation leave, flexible work programs and insurance programs among others).
o Work in special projects assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or the Senior Management.
REQUIREMENTS
· Professional Fluency in English (written and verbal skills). Spanish will be valued.
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required, CHRP (or working towards) is preferred.
· Minimum 4 years of progressive experience and proven track record of success in roles focused on HR generalist work.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
· Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism at all times
· Thorough knowledge and application of federal employment regulations with focus on Ontario.
· Knowledge of human resource legal requirements trends and practices.
· Strong working knowledge with MS Office: Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
· Problem-solving skills and should be familiar with human resources information systems
· A team player who has the ability to multi-task.
· Demonstrates a strong work ethic, tremendous integrity, and the ability to be discreet with confidential information.
Avicanna considers market indicators, as well as the selected candidate’s specific experience, background, and skills, when determining compensation within the applicable market range. The compensation range for this role is $65 to $80 per hour.
