Role Description
This is a full-time remote position for an Adjuster – Commercial Automobile. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial automobile insurance claims from initial assessment through to resolution.
Key responsibilities include reviewing claims and supporting documentation, conducting investigations, determining liability, evaluating damages (quantum), negotiating settlements with claimants or third parties, and ensuring timely and accurate claim processing in compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. The role also requires close collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks using FIS (internal claims management system) and email systems
- Follow up with external stakeholders (e.g., insureds, claimants, vendors, and legal counsel) to obtain required documentation and updates
- Analyze coverage, liability, and quantum to support informed decision-making
- Manage and drive the investigation and resolution of physical damage, cargo,
environmental, and property damage claims across Canada and the USA
- Ensure accuracy, compliance with privacy standards, and secure handling of sensitive information
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality protocols and audit requirements
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess claims, determine liability, and resolve discrepancies
- Proficiency in claims handling processes, including documentation review, investigation, and settlement negotiation
- Familiarity with commercial automobile insurance, policy interpretation, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client and team interactions
- Proficiency with digital tools and claims management systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with stakeholders
- Previous experience in insurance claims adjusting, particularly in commercial automobile insurance, is preferred
- College diploma or undergraduate degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field is an asset
- Completion of, or progress toward, a CIP designation (or equivalent) is considered an advantage.
Work Workplace
- Primarily remote work environment: however, the ideal candidate will be able to attend the Toronto office occasionally, as required
- Dynamic, close-knit team environment offering both autonomy and collaborative support
- Some travel may be required for mediations and pre-trials
- Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000
