We are seeking a senior leader to guide this practice. This role requires sound professional judgment, deep experience in labour relations, and the ability to support both high‑quality investigation work and the investigators doing it.

About the role

The Director, HR & Workplace Investigations provides leadership within our investigations practice while remaining closely connected to the work.

You will oversee complex matters, coach investigators, support quality and consistency, and contribute to the ongoing development of our investigation practices, particularly in unionized and labour‑relations‑sensitive environments.

What you will do

- Lead and oversee workplace investigations and senior HR advisory work
- Provide guidance on labour relations and unionized workplace issues
- Review investigation reports and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Support investigator development and wellbeing on complex files
- Contribute to investigation tools, templates, and practice standards
- Partner with colleagues on client relationships and proposal development
- Represent Veritas with clients and industry partners

What we are looking for

Required

- CPHR designation
- Minimum five years of HR leadership experience, including labour relations and work in a unionized environment

You will likely also bring

- Experience conducting or overseeing workplace investigations
- Strong written, judgment‑based reporting skills
- Comfort providing firm, respectful feedback
- Leadership or mentorship experience
- Alignment with values of care, fairness, and harm prevention

Work arrangement and compensation

- Employee role with a 32‑hour flexible work week
- Fully remote within Canada, with occasional travel
- Salary range: $95,000 to $120,000, based on experience

Final candidates may be asked to complete a short, real‑world simulation prior to interview. This involves reviewing an investigation report and providing written feedback to the investigator before it is shared with a client. Submissions are assessed as part of screening.

Job Description

Job Title: Director

Location: Remote (Edmonton, AB) with occasional travel

Employment Type: Full-Time, Employee (32 Hour Work Week)

Compensation: This role is compensated in accordance with the organization’s salary band framework and is aligned to internal equity and market benchmarks.

Position Summary:

The Director provides leadership for a core service area—Consulting, Training, or Investigations—grounded in deep expertise in their assigned domain. This role supports high-quality delivery, operational excellence, and alignment with the company’s mission. The Director partners with internal teams to guide project planning and execution, foster team wellbeing and development, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, fully remote working environment. The Director represents the service line externally through credible client engagement and professional industry engagement consistent with organizational values.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership for service delivery within the assigned domain, ensuring work is delivered with quality, care, and consistency
- Guide project execution so deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with applicable standards and expectations
- Shape and evolve service-line approaches, templates, and resources aligned to the assigned domain (Consulting, Training, or Investigations), incorporating lessons learned, emerging practice issues, and internal quality standards. This is done in collaboration with colleagues.
- Support team performance through coaching, clear expectations, feedback, and access to the tools and resources needed to succeed
- Complete people-leader reviews and approvals for direct reports in accordance with organizational policies and timelines (e.g., time entries, time off/leave requests, and expense submissions), and following up on questions or corrections as needed
- Partner across functions to align priorities, remove barriers, and support progress toward company-wide goals
- Build and maintain client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and strong professional judgement; for external-facing service lines, contribute to the organization’s reputation through thoughtful participation in industry committees and a positive professional social media presence.
- Represent the organization in external-facing settings (e.g., conferences, client sessions, community or industry events) in a manner that is aligned with our values and supports positive, respectful relationships.
- Contribute to business development within a shared, team-based approach by identifying and advancing opportunities aligned with the organization’s services and values, and by supporting relationship development, scoping discussions, solution design, and proposal development in collaboration with Business Operations/BD.
- Track key measures of success (KPIs)



and use insights to continuously strengthen division programs, tools, and resources to improve quality, consistency, and scalability across the service line

Required Qualifications & Skills:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., HR, Law, Business, Education) or an equivalent combination of education and experience

· Typically 7+ years of experience in a related professional services role (or comparable experience in a similar environment)

· Typically 3+ years in a leadership or people-management role, with demonstrated experience supporting team performance and development

· Experience in HR consulting, investigations, or training / leadership development is an asset

Technical Skills:

- Demonstrated expertise in tools, methods, and standards relevant to the assigned service line (e.g., investigation planning and reporting practices; consulting frameworks and client advisory deliverables; adult learning design and facilitation methods)
- Strong project and resource management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and collaboration platforms
- Familiarity with CRM, case management, or learning management systems (as applicable)

Soft Skills:

- Excellent communication and client engagement
- Ability to support public speaking and engage with diverse audiences in areas of expertise
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving
- High attention to detail and quality
