Job Description

Sites: Toronto Western Hospital (Krembil Discovery Tower) and various UHN outpatient clinics.
Department: UHN Connected Care
Reports to: Manager
Wage Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Temporary Full-time (2-4 month contract)

Role Summary
We are seeking summer students to support a large‑scale environmental scan of UHN’s outpatient clinics. The students will help build a clear, standardized understanding of how UHN’s 320+ outpatient clinics operate, supporting future planning, analysis,
and system improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive environmental and visual scans of outpatient clinic spaces
- Observe and document physical layouts, wayfinding, patient flow, and use of space
- Shadow clinic areas to understand workflows and day‑to‑day operations
- Perform audits, assessments, and data collection activities
- Review and analyze operational and access data (e.g., Epic, clinic volumes, phone line data)
- Track and document clinic scheduling structures
- Support current‑state process mapping and operational documentation
- Interview and engage clinic staff to understand clinic operations and practices
- Compile findings into standardized, clear, and digestible formats (e.g., templates, summaries, maps, and data sets)
- Identify operational variations, themes, gaps
Qualifications
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited high-school or post-secondary institution at the time of application.
- Experience with Epic EMR (Electronic Medical Record) would be an asset.
