Program Overview
The Specialized Clinical Refugee Health Team, funded by Ontario Health, provides comprehensive, culturally secure, and trauma-informed primary care and wraparound supports for refugees and refugee claimants with complex health and social needs. Care is delivered at WellFort's two sites and through outreach to community locations where refugees are being housed, including hotels, in partnership with settlement agencies and local health providers.
Position Summary
The Team Lead (Nursing) will monitor, coordinate, and supervise clinical care delivery within the Refugee Clinic and related outreach activities. The Team Lead acts as a clinical leader, mentor, and advocate, ensuring safe, high-quality, client-centered care in alignment with WellFort policies, nursing standards,
and equity-focused, trauma-informed practice.
This role blends direct client care, health promotion, team leadership, community engagement, and program development, with responsibilities extending across Refugee Clinic sites and offsite locations where refugee clients are being supported. The Team Lead may also be assigned other duties, projects, or program support activities as required to meet organizational and client care needs.
Accountability
The Team Lead will:
- Practice within the full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Registered Nurse Practice Standard, Nursing Act (1991), and Regulated Health Professions Act (1991).
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the CNA Professional Code of Ethics and WellFort policies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and funder requirements.
