The Opportunity
Were looking for a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead the full HR function at PermaCorp, a growing Canadian metal fabrication business serving commercial, residential, and industrial clients across North America.
Reporting to the CEO, this role is deeply embedded in the day-to-day of the business; supporting a workforce that spans shop floor production, skilled trades, and corporate functions. Youll be responsible for building practical, scalable HR processes that support how the business actually operates.
Youll be the primary HR partner to leadership, balancing strategy with execution, and helping bring structure, consistency, and clarity to how people are hired, developed, and supported across the organization.
What Youll Own
Talent Management: Recruitment, Onboarding & Workforce Planning
- Lead full-cycle recruitment across all levels, from workforce planning through to offer and onboarding
- Build and maintain external talent pipelines through partnerships with educational institutions, trade schools, and industry associations
- Strengthen employer brand and recruitment strategies within the Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario market
- Oversee structured onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure consistency, compliance,
and positive employee experience
Total Rewards & Compensation
- Manage and evolve total rewards programs, including benefits administration, RRSP contributions, renewals, and plan changes
- Lead compensation banding, benchmarking, and overall compensation planning aligned to market and business goals
- Partner with leadership on salary decisions, offers, and internal equity considerations
- Support and administer compensation changes tied to performance and organizational growth
Performance Management & Retention
- Own and continuously improve the performance management framework, including annual review cycles
- Coach leaders on performance conversations, development planning, and accountability
- Drive retention strategies aligned to engagement, career progression, and total rewards
- Own the incentive program administration including birthday recognition and years of service awards
- Track and report on key HR metrics and KPIs to inform CEO decision-making
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Act as the primary HR advisor to leaders, including executive stakeholders
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution
- Support leaders in building high-performing, accountable teams
- Promote a culture aligned to business performance, safety, and operational excellence
Learning & Development
- Oversee certification and training maintenance requirements, particularly within a manufacturing environment
- Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps, develop capacity matrices, and build targeted development plans
- Facilitate and create training modules aligned with embedding of culture, performance, and business objectives
Health, Safety & Claims Management
- Serve as a key leader in Health & Safety initiatives and compliance across AB, ON, and MB
- Serve as the Employer Co-Chair for the Edmonton and London OH&S; Committees
- Manage WCB/WSIB claims, accommodations, and return-to-work programs
- Ensure proactive risk management and continuous improvement in safety practices
Compliance, Policies & HR Operations
- Ensure full compliance with Alberta, Ontario, and Manitoba labour standards and applicable legislation
- Own and modernize all HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Identify opportunities to optimize HRIS functionalities, reporting, and employee experience
- Support HR systems and reporting, including ADP implementation
What You Bring
- 57+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within manufacturing or operations environments
- Solid working knowledge of employment legislation and labour standards in Alberta, with knowledge of Ontario and Manitoba ESA application
- Demonstrated experience across recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and HR operations
- Hands-on experience with Health & Safety programs and claims management
- Experience supporting or implementing HR systems (ADP experience is an asset)
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Practical, solutions-oriented, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
- Strong communicator who can influence at all levels of the organization
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Data-driven, with a focus on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement
- Hands-on leader who balances strategic thinking with day-to-day execution
