About the Role

This position is responsible for the continuous outside operations of the process, storage, loading, and unloading systems of a mixed natural gas liquids fractionation and/or cryogenic facility. Duties include, performing site checks, adjusting equipment in consultation with the control room and assisting maintenance and other support groups for optimal efficiency and availability of the plant.

The LNG Common areas are comprised of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment. As well as the utilities unit, water treatment, marine loading, and condensate storage area, including rail loading.

The process trains make up LNG Canada’s main cryogenic process containing 4 aero derivative turbines driving 4 multistage centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, high energy multi-stage pumps. Heat exchangers, vessels, and all associated auxiliary equipment.

Field Technicians will be assigned as per the production requirement. Know that initially the assignment can be in the Common Facilities area (Utilities, Shipping and Loading) or Process area, however over the course of their career the technicians will cross train in the other work areas and additionally could progress into the panel positions.

You will use your expertise to:

- Operate LNG process equipment safely,



including executing start‑up and shutdown activities in strict accordance with approved operating procedures

- Conduct routine field checks and inspections to verify equipment and plant conditions

- Monitor process conditions using the plant control system, technician-issued tablets/computers, and in‑field observations to ensure stable operations

- Identify changes in equipment health or process parameters and communicating issues to the Panel Technician and Production Team Lead for timely resolution

- Interpret and apply P&IDs;, PFDs, equipment drawings, schematics, and operating manuals to support safe and accurate operations

- Perform process and equipment adjustments within established design limits to mitigate emerging risks to production or safety

- Maintain accurate and detailed shift logs and conducting formal shift handovers to ensure operational continuity

- Execute assigned unit objectives in support of broader safety, reliability, and production targets

- Conduct field sampling activities and following up on laboratory results to ensure operating parameters remain within defined limits

- Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and first-line response actions as members of the Emergency Response Team

- Maintain housekeeping standards across process units to ensure safe and efficient plant operations

- Prepare process equipment for maintenance work, including performing isolation c/w removal of end blinds, low voltage disconnects, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), bump testing, gas testing, and confirming zero-energy states

- Issue, authorize, verify, and manage work permits in accordance with LNG Canada’s control‑of‑work requirements

- Ensure maintenance activities do not conflict with live operations or other concurrent work in the area

- Support the safe return of equipment to service following maintenance, consistent with approved procedures

- Create work orders

- Assist in the preparation of isolation documentation, including isolation plans, LOTO registers, and unit‑specific procedures

- Monitor equipment defects, abnormalities, and process deviations, ensuring risks are assessed and corrective actions implemented promptly

Operations Technicians are also responsible for safety, compliance, and support activities that form an integral part of their Production duties. In doing so, the Operations Technicians perform the following functions:

- Apply LNG Canada’s HSSE standards, life saving rules, and protected work practices at all times

- Manage control of work activities, including atmospheric monitoring, work permits, and vehicle access controls

- Participate in routine shift meetings, safety meetings, workplace inspections, and incident investigations

- Test and verify standby and safety critical equipment in accordance with defined schedules

- Coach and mentor junior operators and new team members to support ongoing competency development

- Review and update operating procedures, work instructions, and safe work practices as required

To be successful, you will have:

- Will have demonstrated experience as a field operator with minimum 5 yrs. or more in plant operations (Utilities/Water treatment,



storage and loading or oil and gas processing preferred)

- Completed 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate with firing time or higher

- Possession of an Environmental Operators Certification Level 2 is preferred

- Commissioning and start up experience preferred (but not mandatory)

- Possess a strong commitment to working safely and adhering to safe work practices

- Demonstrated Mechanical aptitude and proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets

- NFPA 1081 or 1001 certification is preferred but not required, however some NFPA level certification will be required of plant operation as technicians are assigned to an emergency response role – training will be provided

This role requires that you:

- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)

- Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, you are encouraged to explore what Kitimat has to offer in terms of lifestyle including schooling, local amenities, outdoor adventure, and housing, to ensure Kitimat is where you would like to call your new home.

- Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.

- Know that this is a 12hr rotating shift role with nights and days.

- Know that this is a shift role, required to work night shift, weekends and holidays.

- Willing and able to work outdoors in inclement weather.

- Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces.

- Using safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 23 kg from ground to waist level.

- Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

- Willing and able to participate on an emergency response team and able to successfully complete ER specific fitness to work assessment.

- Have a valid Driver’s license.
