Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 - March 31st 2027.)
Position Overview
Senior nursing professional performing assessment and preoperative care for adult patients in preparation for surgery. Works within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective surgical pathways.
Experience
- Minimum three years recent clinical experience in relevant nursing specialty required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred.
- Successful completion of a relevant post-basic program may be required or preferred in a designated area.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word Processing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Commitment to care through a family centered nursing approach.
- Advanced clinical knowledge in subspecialty.
- Commitment to maintaining current knowledge in area of expertise through reviewing literature and attending continuing education inservices, workshops and conferences.
- Expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counselling, teaching and group dynamics.
- Ability to work independently but collaboratively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians and nurses and community members.
- Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision-making ability, leadership and strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge and skills in research and quality assurance.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
- May be required to work flexible hours.
- Occasional travel to community agencies, patient homes and/or other healthcare institutions.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
