Job Overview
As the Manager, Mortgages Portfolio, you will lead the integration of a Portfolio of approximately 80 homes into the Habitat GTA Homeownership umbrella. These homes, originally delivered by another non-profit organization, support homeownership for members of the arts community in the City of Toronto by offering an affordable mortgage model. Habitat GTA has acquired this portfolio of homes and their second mortgages. As the Manager, Mortgage Portfolio, you will utilize your Mortgage expertise to understand and catalogue the scope of the second mortgages into Habitat GTA's existing database. You will provide leadership on integration of these new partners into the Habitat organizational structure. You will be a primary point of contact for Partner homeowners as they navigate this transition and support them in mortgage-related inquiries such as renewals, refinances and sales. You will work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the reputational integrity of the Habitat brand.
As Manager, Mortgages Portfolio, you will leverage your knowledge of the second mortgage structure to support Habitat GTA with its ongoing second mortgage requirement such as arrears managements, discharges, renewals and reviews.
This role will also work closely with the Senior Director, Program Operations and Senior Manager, Family Partnerships to provide thought leadership on process improvements and operational efficiency. Presentations to community partners and organizations will be included in this role.
This role does not currently have any direct reports but will work closely with the larger Program Operations Team.
Job Duties
- Lead the integration of approximately 80 homes into the Habitat GTA Homeownership umbrella
- Review all legal and mortgage provisions, capturing meaningful requirements and individual nuances of mortgage models
- Work closely with City of Toronto to ensure a smooth transition and maintain reporting requirements for these mortgages
- Provide leadership on integrating homeowners into the Habitat GTA Salesforce Platform and other technology
- Provide leadership for integrating new homeowner partners into the Habitat organizational structure
- Serve as a primary point of contact for partner homeowners during the transition and ongoing, providing excellent customer service support on questions and concerns
- Support partner homeowners in mortgage-related inquiries such as renewals, refinances, as per Habitat process
- Lead the sales process by supporting homeowners, applicants, working with external stakeholders including the City of Toronto.
- Support with building relationships with mortgage providers to provide attractive rates on renewals.
- Work alongside Habitat's lawyers to manage mortgage-related transactions
- Support with the existing Habitat mortgage portfolio and associated requirements such as annual reviews, discharges, arrears management, renewals.
- Work closely with the Senior Director, Program Operations and Senior Manager, Family Partnerships to improve productivity via process improvements and operational efficiency
- Host Townhalls and deliver presentation to stakeholder groups
- Other departmental tasks and duties, as assigned
Summary of Skills & Qualifications
- Deep expertise in mortgages, real estate transactions and related legal agreements.
- Experience with change management
- Expertise in providing exemplary customer service and managing difficult escalations
- Experience with managing complex programs, requiring real-time decision making and supporting staff
- Comfortable in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, at various levels, in a professional and knowledgeable manner
- Forward thinking, innovative and focussed on process improvement
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Comfortable delivering presentations to small or medium sized groups, both in-person and virtually
- Experience in handling customer enquiries and complaints with a focus on customer service
- Ability to work within a team workplace and coordinating with team members from other departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite: Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Desire to make an impact in the lives of families and the drive to grow with this fast-paced organization
