Job Details

The following position for a Sessional Lecturer is available in the Department of Philosophy for the Summer 2026 academic session. This is an emergency posting in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3. Please note that the position below is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department's Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department within the past twenty-four months and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty-four months.

Salary





In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the rate of pay for Sessional Lecturer I will be $9,820.70 for a half course inclusive of 4% vacation pay. Please note that should rates stated in the collective agreement vary from the rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

May 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026 Summer F-term ; June 22, 2026 - August 31, 2026 Summer S-term

Sessional Dates (including exam periods): May 4, 2026 - June 20, 2026 Summer F-term ; June 22, 2026 - August 22, 2026 (Summer S-term)

Note: all positions involve completion of any course grading not already finished by June 30, 2026 or August 22, 2026.

Job Title

PHLB06H3: Business Ethics Up to 125 students Summer 2026

Minimum Qualifications

- PhD or ABD in philosophy with specialization or competency in the subject area; strong academic record and professional promise; ongoing research and scholarly publications in the field; one year of prior experience as a course instructor in Business Ethics; relevant and recent teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter.
- Please include a proposed reading list, previous course evaluations, and other evidence of teaching excellence with the application.

Duties

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development,



administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
