Manager, Commercial Planning and Analytics
Overview
Greenfield is seeking a Manager, Commercial Planning and Analytics to play a strategic role in driving profitability transformation and growth. The role will focus on translating expanding market opportunities into actionable, high‑value commercial plans.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis of biofuels policy in the evolving global landscape for biofuels mandates and low‑carbon fuel programs, especially in Canada, the USA and Europe.
- Develop global market views through rigorous supply and demand analysis, highlight key physical and regulatory constraints (feedstock and product certifications), and provide scenario analysis to create additional value (constraint‑busting).
- Build and lead integrated supply and demand planning to optimize commercial returns across multiple time horizons, balancing freight, storage and handling costs and contractual domestic obligations against environmental attributes including CFR, Cap‑and‑Trade systems, and others.
- Create tools and reports to maximize the "Total Value" of the Greenfield ethanol portfolio by integrating global market analysis with advanced AI modeling.
- Collaborate with internal experts on carbon intensity to understand CI trajectory and the needs of obligated parties in regulated markets.
- Support business development by modeling ethanol in non‑road applications (marine, heating, and emerging products like green methanol and other e‑fuels).
- Manage the integration of government statistics and third‑party research into Greenfield databases and decision models.
- Drive continuous improvement of the expanding supply network across truck, rail, marine and terminal options.
- Manage third‑party market research providers and internal models to estimate value ranges for carbon markets of interest (e.g., CFR, Canada Domestic Content, LCFS programs).

- Strategic Optimizer: You look beyond day‑to‑day operations to determine the most value‑added execution plan for the enterprise.
- Technical Architect: You bring sophisticated AI and model‑building knowledge to solve complex optimization constraints.
- Market Expert:
You have a global view of markets and the ability to capture value‑added through ethanol and environmental attribute optionality.
- Disciplined Leader: You lead projects with expedient action plans and align internal teams for successful implementation.
- Versatile Operator: You are comfortable establishing new scheduling protocols while supporting all scheduling modes as required.
Your Experience Should Include
- Industry Tenure: Over 15 years in the energy (oil/gasoline and biofuels) industry and manufacturing operations, with education in engineering, mathematics or commerce.
Modelling and AI: Experience building planning and optimization models with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, Matlab, and AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
- Market Mastery: Deep knowledge of supply/demand factors for energy, biofuels and environmental attributes for Canada, the US and the EU.
- Analytical Expertise: Ability to compile large, diverse data sets to present actionable conclusions including predictive analytics.
- Multimodal Logistics: Scheduling and optimization experience across marine, rail, and truck.
- Project Leadership: Documented history of successful project management and implementation.
Job Responsibilities
- Global Market Analytics: Conduct sophisticated biofuels and environmental attributes supply and demand analysis for Canada, the US, and the EU to identify market opportunities.
- Tool and Model Development: Create and support advanced models and dashboards for Renewable Energy products and markets with data visualization using platforms (AI, Power BI, etc.).
- Project Development: Collaborate with the Renewable Energy commercial team on internal projects and implementation coordination.
- Commercial Optimization and Total Value Modeling:
Determine the most value‑added plan within constraints to optimize commercial value.
- Scheduling and Logistics Protocols: Establish scheduling and documentation protocols for Marine cargo transportation, support process development, and streamline operations.
Total Compensation & Care
Base salary dependent on experience and demonstrated performance — ($160,000 - $180,000).
