JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Business Intelligence Specialist is focused on the transformation, visualization, and application of data analytics to support the business. The role will execute complex and effective data analysis projects and solutions for enabling stakeholders to make data-based decisions. The role will collaborate, communicate, and advise business stakeholders, including senior leaders, on best courses of action to successfully support and execute projects that drive company performance and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and maintain efficient and scalable data sources that serve as the "source of truth" for the organization, ensuring they can be effectively utilized and repurposed across various business functions.
- Lead and execute complex data analytics projects using tools such as SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Design and implement visually compelling dashboards that align with business requirements and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Mentor, guide, and collaborate with colleagues in executing complex data analytics projects for solutioning business problems, adhering to industry best practices and standards.
- Create and uphold data governance policies across all departments to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Identify and implement improvements within the reporting data architecture. Work collaboratively with IT to optimize and monitor data warehouse processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years' experience in a business intelligence or data analyst role, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
- Post-secondary education in Data Analytics, Information Management, Math and Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Certificates or diplomas in the data and analytics fields are also considered an asset.





- Proficient with SQL to query relational databases. Experience with dimensional models and star schema data structures. Strong understanding of ETL concepts and processes.
- An expert with data visualization software and best practices, Tableau preferred.
- Proficient with complex data preparation & analysis, with solid troubleshooting abilities.
- The ability to convey information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to stake holders of varying technical abilities.
- Flexible and adaptable to shifting business needs in a dynamic work setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams to find solutions and achieve common goals.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
