Position Title

Senior Planner and Scheduler

Position Summary

The Senior Planner & Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the master production schedule to ensure on-time delivery, stable production flow, and efficient use of labor, materials, and capacity. This role serves as the central link between Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and Distribution, ensuring that demand, supply, and production constraints are aligned and proactively managed.

The Senior Planner & Scheduler owns the planning processes within the ERP system, including MRP review, BOM and routing accuracy, item setup, ECN implementation, and resolution of WIP and backflush issues. This role provides forward‑looking analysis, identifies risks before they impact production, and drives continuous improvement in planning accuracy, inventory health, and schedule adherence.

Location: Burnaby, BC

Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Reporting to: Manager, Production

Essential Functions

- Develop, maintain,



and optimize the master production schedule for boiler manufacturing, ensuring alignment with capacity, labor availability, and material readiness
- Monitor and adjust schedules proactively based on constraints, risks, and changing priorities
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and communicate changes, delays, or risks to all relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Distribution, and Operations to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory levels to ensure the production plan supports inventory targets and service levels
- Work with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve supply-related risks before they impact production
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within planning and scheduling to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve schedule adherence
- Maintain and develop planning SOPs, documentation, and standard work
- Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and coordinate implementation for finished goods and p-kits
- Own and execute key ERP processes including Item creation, BOM and routing maintenance, MRP review, inventory reconciliation, WIP completion error resolution, backflush accuracy, and locator streamlining
- Conduct capacity analysis and scenario planning to support decision‑making and long‑term operational planning
- Track and report planning KPIs such as schedule adherence, material readiness, and capacity utilization
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education





- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field

Work Experience

- At least 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) including MRP, BOMs, routings, and item setup
- Proven experience in capacity planning, material planning, and schedule optimization
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Quality)
- Experience in continuous improvement, Lean, or process optimization is an asset

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Technical Knowledge

- Strong understanding of MRP, production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory control
- Familiarity with safety stock, Kanban, and replenishment systems
- Strong understanding of ERP transactions: WIP completion, backflush, locator management, item creation, BOM/routing maintenance
- Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Analytical Skills

- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data‑driven decisions
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to anticipate risks and propose solutions
- Ability to perform scenario planning and evaluate the impact of changes on production
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across departments
- Ability to clearly communicate schedule changes, risks, and constraints

Organizational & Leadership Skills

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapid‑paced environment
- Ability to develop and maintain SOPs and standard work
- Ownership mindset: accountable for outcomes, not just tasks

Systems & Tools

- Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
