Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Services, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing related activities and ensuring the delivery of materials and services to the site occurs on time, at the right price the first time. This position acts as a liaison between offices and field workers and must possess strong knowledge of procurement policies and procedures. The role works with estimating teams to source materials and negotiate the best price for the total cost of goods at the time of tender.
What You’ll Do
- Accountable to satisfy demand placed on the system on time
- Create purchase orders in SAP, confirm purchase quantities and pricing with vendor
- Adhere to Aecon preferred supplier sourcing footprint
- Drive toward a zero‑exception procure‑to‑pay process
- Resolve price, delivery, account assignment, material and service‑related exceptions in real time
- Increase the use and refinement of Aecon’s material master data
- Verify all packing slips for all pertinent information
- Clear open commitments and close purchase orders as required
- Maintain and organize all related filing systems
- Generate vendor corrective measures when required
- Generate and maintain an up‑to‑date procurement plan noting long‑lead‑time material schedules
- Ensure material specifications are adhered to when sourcing or buying
- Manage requests for product data sheets/shop drawings for applicable items and ensure material production releases meet all necessary criteria
- Perform other procurement administrative duties as required
Qualifications
- Minimum three years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably in procurement and/or electrical field
- Experience managing purchase orders and vendors on long‑term projects over a period of five or more years
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising judgment, initiative, and multitasking
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Strong ability to forge relationships internally across Aecon departments and externally with suppliers
- Technical understanding of SAP and the procure‑to‑pay process
- Solid computer skills – Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of total‑cost concepts
- Ability to work with others as a member of a team
- Independent thinker capable of taking initiative and finding solutions for challenges
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $60,000 – $70,000 per year. Reason for Vacancy: New.
