Job Summary

Under the leadership and direction of the Director of Research Administration and Operations, the Manager of Clinical Trials Unit provides overall management of the CTU to ensure that clinical trials are well supported and successfully delivered at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB). The role ensures trials are delivered in accordance with protocols, with required documentation, approvals, monitoring, and reporting. The Manager contributes to the review and assessment of clinical trial proposals, supports high‑value trials to meet enrollment targets, and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including educational and health services organizations across Manitoba, representing CCMB nationally as requested. The Manager also contributes to operations planning, agreements and contracts, trials management, monitoring and reporting, and supports the CRAO in promoting and developing opportunities for clinical trials and sponsorships.

Qualifications

Education

- Post‑secondary clinical, business, public administration, health management, or sciences degree from an accredited institution, or another field relevant to the position.

Experience

- 7 years working in a health services environment with a strong connection to clinical and clinical support services.
- 5 years of management experience, including managing staff within a unionized workplace.
- 3 years of experience in operational planning, data‑driven program evaluation, organizational management, policy and program development.
- 3 years of experience supporting clinical trial protocols to ensure program functions are effectively delivered.

An appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

- Ability to proactively build and maintain partnerships and work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation skills, with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, problem‑solve and apply knowledge and decision‑making skills.
- Experience in leading project planning and change management.
- Competency in managing staff and developing talent to ensure team efficiency.
- Commitment to self‑development and lifelong learning.
- Self‑directed and able to work independently.

Preferred

- RN, MBA, MPA, LLM or other relevant graduate‑level education.
- Knowledge of corporate operations in a public‑funded healthcare organization.
- Ability to speak French.

Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations

- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body, as appropriate.

Physical Requirements

- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites, and lift and carry items up to approximately 25 pounds.
- Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.

Other

- Must have a satisfactory employment record.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
