The Chance

As the AI Communications Officer, you will be a storyteller and content strategist at the forefront of AI research communications. You will lead projects like the AICan Bulletin, produce compelling content for cifar.ca and social media, and help translate complex AI research into engaging narratives for a global audience. You will work alongside a passionate team of communications professionals to elevate CIFAR’s impact and share the exciting work happening across our AI programs.

Key Responsibilities & Impact:

- Lead the production of the AICan Bulletin and other AI communications initiatives.
- Research and write engaging content for websites, social media, and multimedia channels.
- Collaborate with researchers, designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and high-quality storytelling.
- Develop creative social media strategies to amplify AI research and program impact.
- Support communications for CIFAR initiatives, including the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy and the Canadian AI Safety Institute Research Program at CIFAR.
- Contribute content for CIFAR’s annual reports, media outreach, and other high-profile communications projects.

About You

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years in communications, preferably in academic, research, or science contexts.
- Demonstrated experience executing strategic communications plans and publications that deliver impact.
- Well-developed research, analytical, fact-checking, copywriting, and editing skills.
- Familiarity with Google Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp,



and analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4.
- Some experience with photography, video, and Adobe software is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.

Hiring Salary Range

$65,000 – $77,000

To ensure fair and equitable pay at CIFAR, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the AI Communications Officer role.
