Product Investigations Engineer – Canada Vehicle Safety

The Product Investigations Engineer will lead the development of responses to defect and compliance inquiries, primarily from Transport Canada. The engineer works with Customer Care, Technical Service, and external third parties to identify emerging trends, and collaborates with Canadian team members on campaign administration and product analysis to ensure regulatory and internal reporting obligations are met. The role includes significant interface with external groups such as Transport Canada, and internal cross‑functional teams including Investigation teams, Product Development, Office of the General Counsel, Technical Service Operations, and Customer Care.

Responsibilities

- Lead and manage response development to defect and compliance inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to administer campaigns and conduct product analysis.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and internal reporting obligations.

Requirements

- Temporary 1‑year assignment.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or related technical degree) from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum three (3)



years of cross‑functional experience with increasing responsibility, preferably in Vehicle Safety, Federal Regulations, Product Development, or Customer Experience.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, meet aggressive deadlines, and maintain zero tolerance for mistakes.
- Working knowledge of multiple automotive systems.
- Superior communication skills in written and verbal forms to internal and external agencies.
- High level of accountability and ability to break down complex issues.
- Passion for excellence and drive to deliver in the face of obstacles and time constraints.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Requirements

- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a combined ME and EE degree from an ABET accredited university.

Additional Information

- Hybrid (mostly remote) with occasional travel to the US (1–2 times per month) and to ARDC in Windsor as needed.
- Travel for vehicle inspections within Canada may be required, depending on locations.
- Driving a vehicle may be required for certain tasks (e.g., testing, moving vehicles).
