Position Description

Join a Digital Delivery Practice focused on delivering modern, mobile first digital solutions powered by cloudnative, containerbased platforms. This role is for a hands‑on Cloud Architect who enjoys designing, building, and running systems—not just documenting them.

This is a senior individual contributor role (no people management) with a strong emphasis on architecture ownership, hands‑on engineering, and technical leadership across mobile applications, Kubernetes platforms, and cloud services.

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities

- Own the endtoend architecture for mobilefirst digital platforms.
- Design and evolve cloudnative, containerized solutions, with a strong focus on GCP and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Define architecture standards and patterns for:
- Mobile applications and backend APIs
- Microservices and container platforms
- Scalability, availability, and resiliency
- Architect and contribute handson to mobile applications (iOS, Android, React Native).
- Design and build backend services and APIs using Java and Node.js.
- Build and operate Kubernetesbased platforms, including networking, ingress, scaling, and deployment strategies.
- Own infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Drive CI/CD, DevOps,



and production readiness for mobile and platform workloads.
- Collaborate closely with developers, platform teams, SRE, and security partners.
- Lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and share best practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Digital Delivery Practice’s technical direction.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

- 6–8+ years of handson experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or software development.
- Proven experience acting as a solution or cloud architect in realworld systems.
- Strong handson experience building mobile applications (iOS, Android, and/or React Native).
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, with a robust emphasis on GKE.
- Strong background in containerbased, cloudnative architectures.
- Handson backend development experience using Java and/or Node.js.
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, IAM, and observability.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tooling.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain architectural decisions.

Nice to Have





- Experience integrating mobile apps with Kuberneteshosted backend services.
- Experience with cloudmanaged databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL, Azure SQL).
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, or cloudnative monitoring.
- Experience working in largescale or regulated environments.
- Mobile apps published to the App Store or Google Play.

Compensation

- CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000–$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
