Job Description
The Opportunity
As an Electrical Engineer with WSP, you will contribute to complex transportation and building projects that support safe, reliable, and sustainable land, air, and water transportation networks. From transit and rail facilities to aviation and municipal infrastructure, your work will help shape communities across Canada.
You will be part of multidisciplinary project teams delivering electrical systems for major clients including GO Metrolinx, TTC, YRT, CN, CP, and GTAA, among others.
Your Impact
- Design and deliver electrical systems for transportation and building infrastructure, including power distribution, fire alarm, bonding & grounding, lightning protection, emergency power generator & UPS, internal and external lighting, and lighting control systems.
- Prepare electrical calculations, conceptual and detailed designs, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Support permit, tender, post‑tender, and construction administration services, including shop drawing reviews and RFIs.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, technology, architectural, lighting, civil, signaling, and construction management disciplines.
- Review and seal electrical design for permit and construction.
- Review and seal lighting and lighting control designs for permit and construction.
- Contribute to client and stakeholder meetings, representing WSP’s technical expertise and values under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and EITs in the development of drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables.
- Take ownership of small to medium‑sized projects as a design engineer and, where appropriate, as a project manager throughout the project lifecycle.
Perform individually and as a team member within the electrical discipline.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (PEO) .
- 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for buildings, transportation, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Hands‑on expertise in power distribution, circuiting, emergency lighting, grounding and bonding, emergency power, lighting systems, lighting controls, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
- Solid working knowledge of applicable codes and standards , including OBC, OESC, CEC, CSA, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, and IESNA.
- Experience performing electrical studies such as load, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, lighting, and grounding analyses.
- Familiarity with transportation standards , including GO Metrolinx DRM (Design Reference Manual), DMCA, and TTC design manual and specifications.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Understanding of project management technical requirements, including schedules and resourcing; a Master’s degree or PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Exposure to digital environment,
including Revit modelling, ACC collaboration, Navisworks, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Bluebeam Session is considered an advantage.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 – $130,800
MB & ON: $90,100 – $124,100
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $89,200 – $118,500
